How to edit text in a PDF without Adobe Acrobat (free)

You spot a wrong date in a letter, a misspelled name in a certificate or an old price in a quote, and the only file you have is a PDF. Acrobat can edit it, but it is a paid subscription. For small changes you do not need it: a browser editor can replace the text, add new lines, white out what should go, and insert a signature or image.

Open the tool: Edit PDF

Step by step

  1. Open the Edit PDF tool on Convert Magician.
  2. Drop your PDF. It opens in the editor inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.
  3. Choose the Text tool and click the line you want to change. Type the new text. To add text elsewhere, click any empty spot.
  4. Use white-out, highlight, shapes, images or Find & Replace if needed, then download the edited PDF.

Good to know

  • Edited text is drawn in the closest matching font. Check the result, especially on official documents with special fonts.
  • Latin text stays selectable. Text in scripts such as Arabic is placed as a sharp image, so it looks right but cannot be copied later.
  • If the PDF is a scan, there is no text to click. You can still white out an area and type over it, or run OCR PDF first.

Questions

Can I edit the existing text, not just add new text?

Yes. Click a line with the Text tool. The original is covered in white and replaced with your text in the closest matching font.

Will the edit be visible as a change?

No change marks are added. The page simply shows the new text. Keep the original file if you need a record of what changed.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no account, watermark or page limit, and the file never leaves your device.
