How to split a PDF into separate files for an application portal
You scanned everything into one long PDF, and then the visa, university or job portal asks for each document separately: passport here, diploma there, last three payslips in another box. Splitting the file is quicker than scanning again, and the pages are copied exactly, with no loss of quality.
Step by step
- Open the Split PDF tool on Convert Magician.
- Drop your PDF. It is processed in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Choose how to split: every page as its own file, custom ranges such as 1-2, 3, 4-6, or a fixed number of pages per file.
- Download the ZIP, unzip it and rename each file clearly (for example passport.pdf, diploma.pdf) before uploading.
Good to know
- Check the size limit of the portal. If a part is too large, run it through Compress PDF.
- Need the opposite, several files combined into one? Use Merge PDF.
- Only need to remove a few pages? Delete Pages or Extract Pages may be faster.
Questions
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly, without re-compression.
How do I get the files out of the ZIP?
On Windows, right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. On a Mac, double-click it. On a phone, open it in the Files app.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. Splitting happens in your browser, which matters for passports and certificates.
